In a reflective note from late December 1934, a parent laments a slow start to Christmas cheer while missing his daughter and wife. The United States Civil Service Commission announced an open competitive examination for a Master Mechanic in aircraft engine manufacture. Pay ranges from 11.04 to 17.04 dollars per day at the naval aircraft factory, with eligibility details to follow.
The county board heard an explanation of how the SERA medical plan will supplement county medical care. Virgil Dahl said funds exist to pay doctors bills like regular grocery bills, with a county medical committee overseeing the program. The plan excludes chronic cases and hospitalization and does not replace existing county medical care. Arthur Wood requested funding and $1,500 was transferred from gas tax funds to road maintenance in the fifth district after an executive session.

Superior Judge G R Freeman ordered the county grand jury impaneled as a venire of 30. Eleven Riv erside residents and 19 from 18 cities were drawn. Joy G Jameson Corhan and Mrs Theodore Ashcroft Prado are among local residents. Banning supplies five jurors. Hemet Palm Springs have two each. The 1988-34 jury led by former Riverside mayor Joseph Long is to file its final report soon.
Ed Dotson a plumber formerly with Earth Hardware here for about 18 years died December 7 at his Long Beach home. Funeral services were held December 14 in Long Beach. Mr Dotson and his wife were well known here and deeply missed by many friends.

Two men convicted of passing bogus checks and forged express money orders were sent to the county road camp for long terms after receiving long-term probation. Clarence J. Goodacre of Los Angeles admitted duplicating approximately 700 dollars in fraudulent orders and must restitution. Bishop Jones, who issued three worthless checks in Blythe, is sentenced to one year in the camp on each count, terms to run concurrently.
The Corona Chamber of Commerce under President Fred Snedecor outlines four aims for 1935. More than 500 million pounds of cheese are produced annually in the country.
The state division of registration urges motorists to check the back of their white registration certificate for a tax clearance stamp. If personal property taxes are unpaid, pay now to obtain 1985 license plates, even if the tax date has passed. Those with stamps show clearance. buyers after March 5, 1934 may have redImprinted clearance on the form. If a slip is lost or damaged, apply for a duplicate with a 50 cent fee and obtain a stamp showing appearance before issue.
California navels moved higher while lemons softened slightly in parts today at era and mid western auction centers per Queen Colony Fruit change. Prices for Corona fruit were reported in Philadelphia New York and Chicago markets with varying lemmon and corona varieties selling from about 2.85 to 5.15 per unit.
