DETROIT AP The Rev. Orum L. Trone opens a new Church of Christ on the edge of Detroit's ghetto to show racial openness. He wore one white shoe and one black, carried a black and white cross, and cut black and white ribbons binding the door. The 56 year old Detroit native says the church, with a white following, could have moved after urban renewal demolished the old church. He insists staying will revive culture and decency in the area.

This year the “Drop-in” will be Dec. 26 in the First Baptist Church basement from 8:30 p.m. to midnight with a coffee house atmosphere, conversation, short skits, and entertainment. Edd and Margaret Hollen of Bear Branch celebrated 82 years seven months and 10 days of marriage.
