Police warn that mischief makers in orchards will be taken into custody after 125 to 130 smudge pots were overturned in Lower Foothill Ranch last Sunday. Estimated damage near 600 dollars.
The Egyptian government under Gen. Mohammed Naguib battles a severe economic crisis driven by low world cotton prices. Prices for meat fish and produce are slashed by government fiat as officials and army units enforce maximum limits and curb black market activity.
Fifty year communicants of St John s Episcopal Church were honored as the Fifty Year Club formed. The ceremony included a photo with named members and a Sunday reception in the parish hall where corsages were presented to the club ladies.

John Harrison a 32 year old Negro handyman was sentenced to death by Superior Judge John G. Gabbert in Riverside for the murder of Mrs Theda Campbell in her Indio home last August. He pleaded innocent but offered no defense after admitting the killing with a knife to rob her.
Airman 2/c Ed Alvis, stationed at Thule Base in Greenland, will spend Christmas with his wife Joyce, his parents Mr. and Mrs. L. Alvis of 223 West Seventh Corona, and friends. He graduated Corona High School in 1950 and works as a mechanic at the large United States Air Force base.
A mass gathering of Corona church youth groups is set for December 28 at the Church of Christ at Ninth and Matin streets. Miss Elsie C. Faris, attorney at law, world traveler and noted speaker, will discuss her Africa missionary tour. The program includes a singspiration and a brass quartet, with refreshments after the benediction.

Andres Garcia aged 26 of 124% Howard street pleaded guilty in city court to a hit and run charge. He was fined 100 dollars with 50 dollars suspended as probation. Garcia’s auto was involved in a non injury collision on Sixth street Saturday night.
Corona post office speeds up Christmas mail with a Pitney Bowes postage meter. 18 temporary Christmas mail handlers will be employed to manage rising packages and cards. The office reports about 26 percent higher workload than last year and expects a record year.
The California State Personnel Board announces an exam for state traffic officer to be held February 14, 1953. Apply by January 16, 1953. Eligibility includes completing twelfth grade, age 21 to 35, and fitness standards.
The Corona Youth Choir joins a 7:30 pm Christmas Music program in Corona High School auditorium.
