Fragment describes a Christmas Eve service at St Edward's Catholic Church with a midnight mass and special music. Rev A H Matedan of Los Angles area is mentioned along with Dr J D Johnson, daughter of a Mr.
Miss I. Brown and her niece Mrs Nathan Dubin return from a three week Caribbean cruise visiting Costa Rica Honduras Cristobal and other ports. They toured a 46 000 acre banana plantation near Delap Honduras aboard a special train for a harvesting demonstration. The ship carried 85 000 stems of bananas and was seen by Gov Sam Houston Jones of Louisiana and Captain Abudilah among other passengers. Mrs Dubin resumes her home in Lincoln after arriving from New Orleans.
The Johns Episcopal Church Guild announces a holiday program noting the annual Christmas activities. Mrs. Key will host at 202 Hast et at 2 30 tomorrow and the session will take over with officers C Mort president Key dent Charles Sco tAr and Rasph eld secretary planning the event.
Christmas event features exchange of gifts and carols after dinner. Past Matrons club event includes readings and a medley of carols. Students arriving from Berkeley and San Bernardino areas plan weekend visits, with Emily Mueller and Anne Menefee noted among attendees.
Auxiliary members will gather at Mrs. R. J. Steiner’s home at 1113 Vicentina Street tonight to wrap Christmas packages for veterans. The meeting also includes a session of the relief board and notes a veterans facility in Sawtelle.
Members gathered for the annual community Christmas program at the pavilion with Christmas readings and a lighted tree. The event featured tea hosted by Mrs. Ny Standiford and Mrs. Ben Bampzelle, with programs planned by F Winter and guest pastor, following a Home Gardens Booster meeting.
Local Red Cross workers announced completion of stockings project. Mrs. Bield and Mrs. Ruby led the effort with Mrs. Hastings and Mrs. Clark assisting. Stockings mailed or tied yesterday, containing articles for use by the men.
