Riverside county bankers and guests gather at El Mirador hotel Palm Springs for the regular monthly meeting. Two prominent financial men will speak on Riverside resorts and the date industry, with social events for members and wives.
Miss Martha Dugan of the Security Savings Bank of Riverside was named president of the Citrus Belt Association of Bank Women. The annual meeting, attended by about thirty women bankers, was held in Riverside on Saturday evening.

Corona boxing fans travel to Gate City to see H. T. Foust present a San Bernardino arena card. The Orange Belt Athletic club features thirty or more rounds of fighting by top southland fighters, with a new lower ticket schedule increasing crowds.
L. L. Andrews, chairman of the chamber of commerce special committee, plans and builds an adult recreation club at Seventh and Washburn. He hopes to have the building and grounds completed by year’s start for horse shoe, croquet, checkers, chess, backgammon and domingo players. The building awaits painters and plumbers while city crews smooth the grounds in coming days.
Riverside office of the auto club of Southern California spends today and tomorrow at Gililand's Garage on East Sixth Street assisting members with the new license plate requirements.
Riverside December 16 Teachers from the city and county began a three day teachers institute at Central junior high school with about 700 county teachers in attendance. A E Jenks University of Minnesota spoke on Mimbres culture. The Poly high band and the Girls Glee Club of Banning provided music. Continues on page two.
United States government will assume the full cost of the Barton Flats cut-off. The project is estimated at about 300000 dollars. The decision by the Bureau of Public Roads commits the government to the entire cost and avoids delays from state legislation. Design and plans are started and construction may begin at the earliest suitable weather.
Postmaster RK Og. Johnson reports parcel post is rising with business improving daily. The service operates from Hoover garage to speed dispatch, reducing lines at the post office. An extra worker has been added and another may follow to avoid overtime.

James Murphy, convicted of murder in the second degree for fatally shooting Mrs. Jemma Hodges on North Market, was sentenced by Judge O. K. Morton to a term of five years to life in San Quentin. He changed his plea from not guilty to guilty on December 12 and was taken to the prison this afternoon.
Coronans sighted a train carrying top thoroughbreds en route to Agua Caliente race track. A special eight car train transported prized horses believed worth over a million dollars as they prepare for the annual meeting starting on Christmas Day.
The Corona First Congregational Church greeted Rev BLA Drake, new pastor, with high praise after his ini tial sermons. Drake arrives from Minneapolis with eight years leading a church, impressing both young and old. Mrs Drake, a niece of Glen Ivy’s Mrs. Johnson, stays at Glen Ivy while church arrangements are made.
Rev Tom Busch conducts evangelistic meetings at 213 West Sixth Street with increasing interest. Monday features Busch speaking on Does Death End All, followed by a chorus from Pomona tonight, John Sheets of Upland as soloist Wednesday, and Friday labeled family night with a gift to the largest family. Non sectarian revival inviting public to attend.
Three Beaumont youths William Watson Elmer Chadsey and Harvey Hilder climbed Mt San Gorgonio Old Baldy reaching the summit via Wilshire Canyon and falls in four and a half hours. They found snow wind and low temps but enjoyed superb views before returning to Beaumont before dark.
Downtown Corona dazzles Sixth Street and Main with Christmas trees and ornament lights atop posts. Mr Trughes and the Southern Sierras Power crew illuminate the firs as visitors admire the glow. Interior store decorations add to the festive scene with Christmas trees featured by local banks and businesses.
A large Corona Christian Endeavor convention at the First Congregational Church featured out of town speakers and many local youths. Saturday included an afternoon rally and banquet, a 6:30 sunrise service on a Corona hill, and a Sunday program with talks on “Forward in His Name” and “to Church Life.”
Regular meeting of the Corona city council starts at seven this evening with little surface business. Several propositions are described as hanging fire and may be taken up at the session.
Kay, a Los Angeles resident visiting Idyllwild, became lost while returning to Fern Valley from Idyllwild. Found around midnight suffering exposure and minor wounds after spending hours in cold, with only a light sweater. Officials expect no serious effects.
J Lincoln and Clayton Nichols of the Corona and Arlington posts spoke at the Arlington meeting last night. They described the Arlington Legion as an up and coming organization doing much good in the community.
