Henry Leppard reports that Felice and Laura Lipari, the proposed fair site owners east of Corona, said they will seek to withdraw land from exposition use after a Sacramento hearing. They challenge a lease-holding arrangement with Sanford Collins, threatening a major hurdle for the 1969-70 fair.

Jim Privett, 30, a Corona city worker, plunged into fast flood waters after Frank Barraclough, 57, slipped into a 36 inch drainage pipe near the Corona water pollution control plant. Privett and plant superintendent Gilbert Cleveland pulled Barraclough to safety about 25 feet downstream with five to six feet of water raging over the banks. Barraclough survived with scratches and a bump to the head, still clutching car keys.
Dr. Sam Sheppard testified that facing a murder conviction and a return to the Ohio State Penitentiary would have driven him to brandish a pistol in the Cleveland courtroom on verdict day. He said he would have used the weapon to provoke death by others and not his own action, carrying a 32 caliber Mauser concealed on his person.
Deputy Frank Andrews spotted a car in Norco with two men inside and arrested Lawrence J. Trelina and Edward M. Burner after finding a damaged Hamner Lamp ton booth coin box. The suspects had pockets full of coins though the total haul was not yet determined. In a separate case, thieves tapped a coin box at North Lincoln for 129.98, damaging relays and the booth light.

City Manager Glenwood Wilson proposed a transportation themed Corona Air Fair for next summer adding an automobile show with antique cars and a motorcycle display. A recent meeting with airport firms and city officials reviewed airport safety, water supply plans, and lighting issues at Corona Municipal Airport.
Southbound Hamner near Valley View in Norco hosts a CHP roadblock for a lane inspection program. Passenger vehicles are stopped for safety checks with warnings or citations issued for defects such as mufflers and brakes.
