Joey Goff, aged seven, writes from 8144 Grape and says he wants Santa to bring two guns and holsters and a cowboy and Indian set. He plans to visit grandparents in Kentucky for Christmas and hopes gifts are delivered to the right place if Santa misroutes them.
Hugh Ibbetson begins a second term as president of the Corona College Heights Orange and Lemon Association as James Stein, C B Pitzer and Harold McMillan are named vice presidents. The board shrinks to nine. 1,600,000 boxes were handled in the first season with a projected rise toward 2,000,000. The group plans a substantial packing refund and will handle Walnut Fruit Growers fruit this year.
San Bernardino Superior Court halted the Lucille Miller trial after a half hour judges' session citing prejudicial newspaper publicity. The judge noted reports linking Miller romantically to a Redlands attorney and an investigation into the attorney's wife’s death. The matter was moved to 1:30 p.m. today for resumption as prosecutors pursue a murder complaint.
