William H Henderson announces the marriage of his daughter Ruth to Ralph Moell PhM2c of Selby South Dakota. The ceremony occurred Thursday evening at 624 Vicentia Street with Chaplain O Connor officiating. The bride wore autumn colors and gardenias. maid of honor Jacqueline Joy wore winter green and brown. The groom, stationed at the U S Naval Hospital, was attended by John T Green PhM3c. White chrysanthemums adorned the home.

California School Library Association Meeting in Los Angeles

Miss Harriett Genung and Mrs. Hazel Hyatt attended a meeting of the School Library Association of California Southern Section at the Elks Club in Los Angeles. Morning sessions featured Miss Marjory Van Deusen and Mrs. Vera Walls discussing public education in wartime and children’s books. Woman's Club to Hear Dr Walter Tuesday Afternoon

Milton Sherwood longtime organist at First Methodist Church resigned and was honored with a church dinner after rehearsal. Mrs Sherwood and Mr Sherwood, now residents of Lynwood, received a gift from the choir. Gas rationing forced his withdrawal from local choir duties as the service featured organ numbers.

Chief Pharmacist Mate Irwin Heim to Join Naval Hospital

Irwin Heim and Mrs. Heim will depart Corona on Tuesday to St. Albina where he will be connected with a new naval hospital. They arrived at Corona Naval Hospital about two months ago from Mobile Hospital No. 2 serving the southwest area.

Mrs W B Hardy returns home after an eastern trip visiting her daughter Mrs Carl Paynter who was in Newark New Jersey hospital two weeks. They then traveled to Suffield Connecticut where the Paynters will reside Sergeant Paynter is stationed at Bradley Field Connecticut. Mrs Hardy also visited relatives and friends in Illinois on the way home.

Frank Becker former Corona resident dies in Balboa

Frank Becker a former Corona resident died at his Balboa California home after a heart attack. Graveside services are set for Wednesday at 2 p.m. He owned a Corona bakery and was a member of the IOOF lodge. Survived by wife Lena and three daughters locations Los Angeles Costa Mesa and Balboa with names partly listed. He retired due to ill health after years in business in several communities.

Ell Garner improves at Riverside hospital after injury

Captain Eli Garner, veteran police officer, has been confined since November 27 after an ankle injury from Halloween night. He is slowly improving and can be out in a wheelchair daily, with a possible return to his Corona home in a few days.

Hero of Week to Be Saluted on Radio Program

The seven man crew credits Colonel Laverne G. Saunders with saving their lives after a bombing mission. Despite his pilot's death and co pilot being wounded, Saunders landed the flaming bomber in the Pacific. He then rescued the co pilot before evacuation. The story airs on the California Blue Network Sunday at 6 55 p.m. PWT.
