The eighth grade troop met at Mrs. O. H. Newhouse home on Wednesday to discuss a Christmas party. No meeting next week due to Glee Club rehearsal. Nineteen seventh grade scouts met and prepared scrapbooks and hospital favors. A Christmas party is set for December 20 with games and taps planned.
Mrs. Minta Connell hosted the Triple Link club with Mrs. Mary Tucker presiding. A covered dish luncheon followed. attendees included Eunice Morse, Clara Misenheimer, Lottie Colbern, Anna Turney, Elizabeth Cross, Kate Wallace, Edna Strowger, Effie Slaten, Marian Alden, Carrie Baker, Mimi Marzinke, Ada La Batt, Will McCarty, Albert Russell, Florence Dilley, guest Olive Morse, and others. Mrs. Wallace plans January entertainment.
The Women’s Council of the First Methodist Church holds an all day meeting Friday with 10:30 memorial service for departed members led by Mrs. H H Linscheid. Devotionals at noon led by Mrs. Haley Jones and luncheon by the Willing Workers. Gifts for Christmas boxes requested. 1:15 singing of Christmas carols led by Mrs. Herbert Wroot, accordion by Mrs. Baya Rag moussen. Missionary reports by Mrs. Effa Newton and Mrs. J D VanBuskirk. Missionaries from Venezuela South America, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Tuggy, speak on their work.
The Junior Auxiliary of W. H. Jameson Jr. Post 216 of the American Legion met at the Legion hall with Shirley Jewell presiding. They planned a Christmas party play and heard a talk on rehabilitation by Mrs. Clarence Walker. Guests included Mrs. G. M. Cole and Mrs. Lawrence Eastvedt. refreshments were served by Amy Clark and Florabell Fullen.
The Philogean class of the First Methodist church will hold a pot luck dinner at the parsonage Friday evening. An exchange of inexpensive Christmas gifts will follow. Mrs. Harry Johnson teaches the class and Mrs. H. H. Linscheid serves as president. Election of new officers will occur at the final business session of the year and all members are urged to attend.
Mrs Agnes Hildebrand was re elected Monday to lead the Altar Society of St Edward s Catholic church at the Armbruster home. Secretary is Mrs A H Hanapel president is Mrs Ralph Ambrose and treasurer is Mrs C G Armbristle. A food and rummage sale is planned for Saturday at the Seventh and Main building. Mr and Mrs A H Heuerman visited with Mr and Mrs Clyde Spera in Glen Avon Sunday.
Miss Bess Downing hosted the Corona Business and Professional women group on Wednesday night at 9th and Victoria. Mrs Ida Field led the discussion on Christmas boxes for the needy and Alys Tuthill heads the project. Elizabeth Schoneman invited members to a Dec 20 Christmas party at Martin's Coffee Shop with dinner and party to follow.
Mrs. Anna S Key will host women of the Episcopal ae at 2 30 o clock Friday with Mrs C Gully as program chairman and Mrs Frank Healy conducting the business session.
Closing tonight at the Corona Theatre features Bette Davis in The Old Maid with Miriam Hopkins and George Brent. Adapted from Zoe Akins stage play and Edith Wharton serial, the drama won the Pulitzer prize in 1935.
