North Hollywood police report television producer Marshall Grant, 47, died by his own action. His body was found in the garage of his home after his wife Marilyn heard a car engine running and checked the area Wednesday.
Corona Schools superintendent James J. Merrihew awarded five players with Tri-County League all star certificates. Larkin, Parks, Phipps, Trettin, and Flores earned spots on the all star teams as coaches and Lions Club members were recognized for supporting the season. The event featured player introductions with fathers and a large list of varsity players and student managers.
At Soledad State Prison 400 inmates join Narcotics Anonymous meetings amid daily routines. About 100 inmates decline TV and library privileges on Thursdays to attend. The gathering includes participants listed as inmates, student managers, and organizers led by Frank Newsom Jr. with assistance from Lions Club and 20 30 Club members. A closing benediction follows.
In San Diego a 10 year old girl with cerebral palsy apparently blacked out and drowned in her home bathtub. Coroner deputies said Judith Butterworth daughter of Mr and Mrs Jack Butterworth drowned Wednesday night after her sister Nancy 13 left the bathroom to do homework.
Harvey A. Lynn of Riverside was unanimously reelected president of Sunkist Growers at the 65th annual meeting. R. J. Hampton of Corona was elected representative for the area. Vice presidents re elected were Leroy E. Lyon of Fullerton Roy R. McLain of Visalia and Milton M. Teague of Santa Paula.
About 3000 people joined a house-to-house search and area effort for 7-year-old Maria Ridulph. FBI agents and local authorities followed slim clues after a one-day lull, but the result was a dead end.
Charles Black of Home Gardens has been elected president of Local 709 Sprinkler Fitters and Apprentices Union in Los Angeles. The union covers one of the largest territories in the United States. The election was held Monday night with vote tabulation completed yesterday. Black had previously served as vice president of Local 709 in 1952.
Rock Co will close the Corona Airport near KBUC after Olympic Rock Products planned sand and gravel work. The city may pursue airport operations using unclaimed aviation gas tax funds while a 30 day heliport lease continues. The council meets tonight to discuss action and permits for local projects.

In Battle Creek Michigan two unrelated men named Don Davis checked into Lakeview General Hospital with pulled back muscles. Don Davis aged 60 met roommate Don Davis aged 55 shortly after admission. The note adds a panda fact from the raccoon family and a Nepalese origin meaning bamboo eater.
