Quarantine Imposed in Corona for 90 Days on Dogs

The Corona city limits will enforce a strict 90 day dog quarantine after three rabies cases. Dogs must stay on premises or be leashed up to five feet. stray animals go to Dr. R A Brunson for observation or destruction if rabies is confirmed. The county health department leads enforcement with police and a new poundmaster.

Greeks Battle British Troops in Capital City

British antileft forces and Greek government troops opened a general assault in Athens against Elas units. The Yannaro p building in Constitution Square fell after a violent fight, with an Elas officer arrested and central Communist offices occupied. Russian forces drive deep into Hungary near Lake Balaton

Night Attack of Jas Beaten Off On Ormoc Pocket

American troops repelled a tank led Japanese night assault at the northern Ormoc pocket on Leyte. U S planes and warships added to losses in the Philippines as a convoy and transports were sighted and attacked by enemy planes. Torrential rains slowed fighting but tanks and infantry were driven back south of the Leyte river bridge. American forces advanced along the Am erican front near Capumi and near Linon. A Liberator bomber sank a Japanese destroyer off Luzon as bombers attacked Manila area airfields and Fort Stotsenburg. Palau based heavy bombers dropped 24 tons on Cebu airfields.

Prison Guards Held Hostage at Atlanta Prison
