Second Skid Row Check Cashed at Corona Market

A counterfeit payroll check, drawn on Mae Company Hollywood for 43.82 to William Hancock, was cashed at Alpha Beta Market in Corona. Police believe the forger is linked to a ring flooding the Southland with fake payroll checks and expect an arrest soon. Descriptions of the suspect and vehicle should be reported to police.

Court lenient on offender who changed ways

Joe Romero Jr of Corona pleaded guilty to a July battery charge and received a $25 fine after stopping with the pachuca gang and staying home with his wife and baby. Four companions faced battery charges. they left town. Witness Francisco Torres requested dismissal, but was refused. Plea of trespassing by Lee Jannsen of Pico, California also earned a $25 fine.

Small boy pulled from cesspool survives scare

Jimmy Blayock a four year old Mira Loma child fell into a cesspool near his parents Mr and Mrs Tom Blayock. He was rescued and given artificial respiration then rushed to Corona Hospital where a stomach pump was used and he remained under observation for a day before returning home. He was cold and dirty but not seriously injured. The Blayocks are former Coroners.
