A 13 year old Corona boy was arrested Saturday night after police found three marijuana cigars on him. Investigators believe the cigars are manufactured in Mexico and may have been bought for around two dollars each. The youth was detained in Juvenile Hall as officers continue to sort out the details.
Hollis Pat Dolan of 715 West aith street, former Buick dealer, received the Bronze Star and Oak-Leaf Cluster for meritorious service in Korea while with the Ordnance Corps. As Assistant Operations Officer and later Headdquarters officer at Eighth Army, he planned ordnance support and trained key personnel. Since returning to civilian life he works for Pennzoil, oversees eight western states, and plans to keep Corona as home with his wife and daughter Patty. Night blindness note appears as unrelated line.
A hungry jackrabbit found behind the Scarborough home at 4142 Pedley Street in Nor eo was saved from a near tractor accident. The three week old fawned animal was adopted by Lei lani Scarborough, 8, and Olen, 12, and nicknamed Jackie. Jackie thrives on milk from a baby bottle and is described as a pampered pet in the family home.
Dr Henrich Gull a Russian born refugee and physician of China told Corona Rotarians about his family escape from Russia in 1920 and years in Romania and Holland before reaching New York in 1921. He recounted medical training internship and Ellis Island experiences and noted opportunities for immigrants to succeed in the United States.
A reader reports a new Corona in Minnesota, 44 miles west of Duluth, listed in the Railway Official Guide of Stations. This raises the total Corona towns in the United States to eight, with earlier sightings in California New Mexico South Dakota Alabama Tennessee New York and California near Petaluma.

Funeral services for Heber George Oldham 45 of 1053 West Eighth Street were held today at Pierce Brothers Mortuary Inglewood with interment at Inglewood Memorial Park. Oldham died November 27 after a three week illness. he had worked as a foreman for Kopper Construction Fontana and Kaiser Steel project.
Corona Civic Garden Club led by President Mrs. Nancy Shank announces the annual Community-wide Christmas decorating contest for residential areas. A judging plan divides the city into three sections with time announced later and likely ribbons and plants as prizes.
The weekend storm brought 2.96 inches of rain and more showers are forecast for Corona and Southern California. A Gulf of Alaska storm tail hits northern California with gusts to 83 mph and minor flooding in the San Francisco Bay area. No major damage reported though downed trees caused power outages and flooded basements. Snow is expected above 4000 feet in the mountains.
Corona High School band under Charles Heckel earned second place in the high school division for schools up to 700 pupils at the All Western Band Review in Long Beach. The Corona Optimist Club junior high group, directed by Richard Becker, also claimed second in the sponsored bands division. Firsts went to Barstow and Bonham Brothers of San Diego, with Helix near San Diego winning the sweepstakes for largest highs. Despite rain, many Coronans enjoyed the parade and crowds.
Jas Reynolds 82 of 3424 Valley View Norco died Sunday in a Riverside hospital after a period of ill health. Born November 18 1870 in Pennsylvania he moved to California 60 years ago and worked 40 years for Doheny Oil in Los Angeles. He retired 20 years ago and lived in Norco with his wife Ann Reynolds. Survived by widow two stepsons Ralph and Harold Stanford both Norco, a daughter Carol Morris Los Angeles, four grandchildren and two sisters. Funeral Wednesday 2 pm Bell Thomas Mortuary chapel with Rev Bruno Edelman officiating Cremation follows.
