In Chicago police and about 3,000 antiwar demonstrators clashed near the Conrad Hilton Hotel as Hubert Humphrey accepted the Democratic nomination. Police arrested 267 youths and at least 300 protesters were injured, many from clubs. Police then dragged and beat detainees into vans.
