UPI reports stock prices mixed with large bond declines in quiet trade. U.S. government bonds fell while varying stock groups showed weakness and uneven performance across categories. Cotton futures held steady and wheat closed slightly lower amid subdued activity.
A terse market bulletin records small gains in several commodities. Oats rise about 3 percent, soybeans climb modestly, while rye and corn show minor fractional increases in price.
Southern California market notes show Haas avocados with sizes 32s priced 5.00 to 5.25 per carton, 40s at 5.25 to 5.50, 485 at 5.50 to 5.75, and 60 70s at 5.75. Local buyers receive these readouts for carton lots and size-spec pricing.
Citrus fruits in Los Angeles remained unchanged with grapefruit, orange and lemon pricing. Hay markets list U S No 1 alfalfa at 39 to 40, No 2 leafy 37 to 38, No 2 preen 37 to 38, No 2 36 to 37, and oat hay 36 to 38. Metal quotes in New York include copper around 31.00 cents per pound, refined 30.82 to 44 cents, tin at 115.00 cents, zinc at 12.50 cents per pound.
Silver prices in New York were steady at 129.0 cents per fine ounce, unchanged from Monday, according to UPI Handy Harman quotes.
United Press International reports steady citrus trends. Valencias show 914 cars at 3.88 for half boxes, Grapefruit 214 cars at 3.80, Lemons 64% at 3.41. Oranges grading 72s to 163s range from 5.65 to 3.78 in all markets.
