Clark credits the press with solving the small mystery and urges proper communication before borrowing again.

J M Beard was sentenced by Judge Freeman to one year in the county prison camp after pleading guilty to forging checks totaling 83 dollars against merchants in the Coachella Valley. Restitution to be made for all funds obtained. The sentence follows Beard’s recent court plea.
Santa Ana July 31 Miriam Ingraham sixteen month old daughter of Mr and Mrs W L Ingraham Buena Park is in quarantine for infantile paralysis according to county health department report. The child is listed as the thirty first case in the county but is only the fourth case still in quarantine. Three other children in the Ingraham home had the disease last year.
Daily about eighty to one hundred pounds of ice are used at the municipal drinking fountain on Sixth and Main streets as hundreds of citizens visit the site.
A county meeting in Riverside drew Corona supporters for Carl Rayburn in his sheriff candidacy. Attendees described the gathering as highly enthusiastic and unified in backing Rayburn.
Billie Kane son of Mr and Mrs D B Kane near Arlington fell from a tall eucalyptus while tree sitting with his brother Jack in a friendly scuffle. Jack says he will stay aloft with owls and come down when school starts.
Juan Decorez was killed in Etiwanda when three gunmen aiming at Marco Rodriguez opened fire as Decorez tried to seek help after leaving Rodriguez's home. Deputies searched the district for suspects believed to be from a Los Angeles gang linked to recent moonshine seizures.
Albert Flint, ninety three, longtime Hemet resident for fourteen years, died Tuesday at Riverside hospital after a brief illness. Although deaf for twenty five years he retained sharp faculties to the end. Funeral services were held here yesterday with relatives as pallbearers.
Employees at the Southern Sierras Power company are on their annual vacations. Manager A. W. Briggs has returned from the high Sierras. Service manager Walter DeMasters came back from a Colorado trip. J. W. Mullins spent two weeks at beaches and mountains. E. R. Williams took a motor trip around Levinning Creek.
The I. O. O. F. team defeated La Sierra nine to eight to clinch the second half championship. They will face Knights of Pythias in a three game series for the city title, with games next Monday and the following Thursday, August 14.

The Kinai Maru from Yokohama delivered the cargo and six all steel Union Pacific baggage cars formed the silk train. Transit time from Los Angeles to New York is about 85 hours, faster than Seattle or San Francisco routes.
Old John Law intervened this week at Riverside River side to seize and destroy several tons of immature watermelons found unfit for consumption. County horticultural commissioner Aleb Zuttell ordered immediate destruction. melons taken to Riverside city dump after inspection by deputy commissioner Alex Hanson.

Riverside county proposes an ordinance to eradicate bark beetle breeding sites in Beau mont Bunning and Yucaipa districts. County agricultural commissioner A F E Bottel is to draft the measure for board approval next Monday. The plan requires growers to dispose of prunings properly as decomposing piles in some orchards fuel beetle propagation.

San Francisco July 31 Citing proof of economies under Governor C C Young Lyman M King director of state finance announced that 181 state officials serve without pay or remuneration There are thirty two boards and commissions today under Young that pay no salaries or per diems King says they sacrifice their salaries and out of pocket expenses and business profits to serve the state The former governor did not abolish a single commission and lacked the courage to end the per diem system while Young has done so Governor Young's economy is proven by these records.
Large melon crop ripens faster than trucks to Los Angeles. Harrell's on Main Street north of Corona offers very low prices for cantaloupes Jap melons and Paul Rose. Customers may buy any quantity from one melon to a truckload with case discounts at fifty cents.
The Corona area reaches peak fumigation for citrus groves with eleven crews at work each night. Work will continue late into the year but not at the previous scale.

The C A Colbern project on South Main Street has sold to Mr and Mrs Frank Ranney. Colbern plans another similar house as demand for such homes grows. The Ranney residence features eight rooms with a breakfast nook and built in amenities. A central living room houses a distinctive local rock fireplace. Exterior will be pure white with west front and bright color awnings plus a red brick porch and walks.
