Youth 14 Killed in Ranch Gun Accident
Bertrand Dewette a 14 year old from Los Angeles was killed on the Norman H. Coley ranch southeast of Colton when his shotgun discharged after striking a water pipe. A coroner jury ruled the death accidental after the body was found in a low reservoir where it had fallen. Stafford Cooley and Vernon Thompson located the body and helped wrap it in a blanket awaiting Deputy Coroner Dennis Ralphs.
