Americans advance near Chateau Thierry taking five machine guns and other material. Torey repulsed with Americans missing after a Lorraine raid. Belleau Wood cleared with prisoners and five machine guns. Germans report heavy losses and prisoners in Badenviller trenches.
Brooklyn police rounded up seven hundred draft age men to check possession of registration cards. The raid followed tips that circulars urged youths to resist illegal induction, coordinated by local draft officers before June 4 in New York.
Wireless operator of the steamship Alaska reports messages indicating the steamship City of Seattle was aground south of Seymour narrows or off Point Barrows. Interference by Japanese boats hindered confirmation of location or damage. Tug Salvor with steamship Admiral Evans in tow was off Cape Decision. the Evans had sunk earlier and was raised with a cofferdam.
The steamship Northwestern sailed from Seattle for Alaska ports at 9 o clock this morning. Passengers listed include M Manger S H Connor Isabelle Ollie L L Cummings Katherine Robinson Mrs F C Robinson S E Hood Mrs I D Bogart Miss Nell Stoddard Mildred Graham Ethel Graham and Mrs B O Graham.
The Paris press says the Austrian offensive ended in a rout and the enemy may be forced to abandon loot and material. Newspapers predict the defeat will harm Austrian morale amid hunger and foresee a possible German Offensive on the western front.
New York June 25 Alien Property Custodian Mitchell Palmer disclosed German plots to hide enemy assets as American rations. Seized German owned concerns totaled 3.5 million dollars sold to American firms paid in notes due in three years, with war outcome anticipated by then.

He outlined aims for a free strong German state with overseas possessions, seas free for trade, and warned Britain over peace terms. He blamed Russia France and Britain for starting the war.
