Pueblo reports confirm a rapid flood after warnings were ignored, leaving hundreds feared dead as a business district lay ruined. Rescue volunteers from the American Legion patrolled the devastated city as fires were extinguished and relief funds rose to about 125 dollars. Looting surfaced by midnight with only two confirmed cases.
At 3 15 o clock Saturday afternoon estimates indicated the death toll would not exceed 500 and might be lower. Property loss was placed at Milove 10000000 dollars. By 3 30 the number of bodies recovered stood at 132.
In the Arkansas and Fountain river flood, estimated deaths range from 1500 to 3000. Property losses exceed 10 million dollars. Bridges and rail lines were destroyed, communications cut, and many families lost everything as waters receded. Identification of many bodies may never be possible.
Governor Shoup appealed to the federal government for 20 million dollars to be placed at Colorado's command for relief in the flooded regions.
The southwestern division of the Red Cross was authorized to draw up to fifty thousand dollars from the national disaster fund for relief in the Colorado flood district, with more funds possible if needed.
Platte river floodwaters enter cellars and first floors in the Jer ome park district west Denver. Residents are warned to flee as air approaches to the area.

Juneau reports the Navy is building a radio compass station at Soapstone Point on Yacobi Island, with a 60 man crew and government landed supplies. A smaller plant is planned at Cape Spencer later this summer at the northern entrance to Cross Sound.
Kansas City story reports Densel Chester acquitted of murdering Florence Bartia, a wealthy local society figure. Jury deliberated about twenty minutes after a sensational pursuit ending with Chester’s escape from guards on a train near Broken Bow, Nebraska, and subsequent recapture.
Lieut Karl Neumann is acquitted of sinking the hospital ship Dover Castle. The court cited obedience to superior orders as the basis for the verdict. The ruling was announced in Leipzig.
The government asks the Supreme Court to dismiss its appeal in the Sherman act case against the American Can Company and subsidiaries. The action follows the United States Steel Corporation ruling, with the high court later dismissing the government's appeal in the American Can matter.
Fire destroyed the rope locker of the steamer Alaska but caused no major damage. The Alaska is manned by a non union crew.

The German submarine U-97 will be sunk thirty miles off the Willamette on Tuesday in line with Versailles treaty provisions. The U-boat toured the Great Lakes during the Victory loan drive and its destruction follows a decision by peace delegates.
The House Foreign Affairs Committee reported a substitute for the Borah disarmament amendment to the naval bill. It is a joint resolution concurring in the declared purpose of President Harding to call an international disarmament conference.
Ten oil leasing and prospecting permits totaling 25 600 acres were received by the U S land office in Juneau. Seven Coldbay district permits cover 17 920 acres for Finnegan Rosenberg Larsen Rosen Emma Naro Shulman and Bense. Three Yakataga permits cover 7 680 acres for Carlisle Watson and Holman. Applications for Pride Snowflake and Mary lodes were filed by G M Wakefield Mineral Land Co of Ketchikan.
Colonel J C Gotwall arrived in town after inspecting the Fairbanks trail from Chitina to Sour Dough and Willow Creek to Valdez. The Chitina to Fairbanks section is open and in fine condition with work continuing on the Sourdough hill route toward August.
Tulsa, June 6. R L Osborne, an automobile party member who failed to stop when challenged by a policeman, was shot last night and died today. The death raises the known white casualties from the Tulsa race riots to eleven.
