J. J. Lewis, brother of Geo. Lewis and worker at Slater's restaurant, suffered a severe accident at the Jumbo mine in Kennecott on Friday evening. His leg was caught by a set-screw, forcing amputation below the knee by Dr. Bunch. He is reported resteady and improving under the circumstances.
A severe storm has disrupted Cordova's power and telephone lines since last night. The transmission line failed at 7:30 PM, restored at 11:30 AM, but several town lines remain down and outages may continue into tomorrow. Wind snow and sleet persist with heavier snowfall than last winter.
