Emil Neuriter, ferry-boat proprietor, killed Anna Engel seventeen Hans Engel eleven and Lilly Engel during a Christmas gathering at D C Engel home then killed himself. Coroner cites whiskey influence as cause while police note Neuriter’s grudge and weapons found on him.
Helen Engel 16 says her rejection triggered the Christmas murder plot by Neuriter on Bainbridge Island. He ambushed the Engel home firing at family members before shooting himself. Anna, Lillis, Hans, Ernest injured or dead and gifts amid wreckage.

Uniontown reports Christmas violence in the Fayette county coal field. Mine policeman Frank Hall was fatally shot while attempting to arrest a black man named Pomp Allen who died in the exchange. Two other black men were killed in the pistol fight.
