Prohibition passed the house by 282 to 128 and a constitutional amendment was sent to the states for ratification within seven years. The senate approved the resolution with a 47 to 8 vote in a non recorded roll call.
Judge Gunnison forwards a telegram from United States Food Administrator Hoover cited by W R Hillery. It defends food administration measures and criticizes Spreckles and other refiners for profits, noting sugar shortages, car shortages, and embargoed sugar since October. Hoover asserts shipments and distribution to meet national needs and France and Canada aid.
The Associated Press reports Ottawa yesterday chose between Borden's union government with conscription and Laurier's Liberal opposition proposing a referendum. Laurier argues the volunteer system lacks thorough trial. Results show Borden with a clear 48 seat majority and three doubtful seats.

The first shipment from Chicago to Cordova by the Chicago Milwaukee St Paul and Alaska Steamship Co. took 20 days. From Washington to Cordova the total 30 days set a record amid congested railroad traffic.
