The body of Congressman John A. Bilston of California was found in the Potomac river. A note in his coat spoke of personal ruin and a concern over a naval project. He vanished Tuesday night and was found later, then disappeared again.
Silver ore running 809 per ton was found on the N. Smith homestead miles north of the old Dominion mine between the middle and south forks of MI creek. The ore was located at a depth of thirty feet on a ledge eighty feet wide, near Colville Washington.
The state executive committee of the National Nonpartisan League met yesterday and decided not to affiliate with any organization nor endorse the Democratic candidate. A report was sent to Charles Townley, league head, who is in Minnesota jail for obstructing the draft.
In Milwaukee on December 16 Pat Moore of Memphis defeated Johnnie Batt in a rare 10 round no decision bout. The bout left Batt as the former bantamweight champion while Moore claimed the title in what observers called a notable performance by the challenger.
A coroner ruled a hunting death an accidental self-inflicted shot near Whiskey Creek ten miles from here. The investigation found Miss Lil Tian Mo Ashty shot herself at her mother’s home while out hunting.
The United States Circuit Court of Appeals yesterday held Curtis first to ingent and operate his flying boat and awarded him a broad patent for a hydro. The decision reversed former courts which had awarded patents to A. 8 Janin, a Staten Island inventor. The ruling marks a step in a long legal battle dating to 1913 over aeronautical patents. Dr Abram Simons urged a national system in public schools to provide work based learning with remuneration for students needing family financial aid. In Ottawa, Kan, Robert Barnabee reached his 106th milepost in life, enjoying a quiet day and noting his family history.
In Peoria or nearby, authorities announce that arrest of leaders of mobs of women in the Kansas coal fields and all agitators in the district may begin at once with deportation proceedings. A key order states deportation measures will be effected promptly.
