Conrad Freed ing, former territorial senator, is believed dead along the Nome trail after leaving his wife at the springs en route to Taylor Creek with a stock of goods. About twenty searchers have sought him for two days as temperatures plunged to forty degrees below zero and no shelter exists on the route.
News from Paris and Berlin report Romanian forces retreating from Bucharest and Wallachia under Teuton pressure. Berlin notes large Romanian captures and front-line withdrawals toward Moldavia, while Romanian capital Bucharest is said to be nearly deserted. London discusses Lloyd George led ministry with Labor support, and Washington comments on the Arabia sinking and German replies.
Dr Louis Winslow Austin reports the Alaska Seattle cable will gain wireless support. Seattle to Cordova wireless link planned via Keyport station next year with navy wireless facility at Cordova. Government ownership not imminent but steel shortages could drive navy station purchases.

Oswald Tramontin, a 48 year old Latouche Beatton mine worker born in Udine Mary, was killed when a large rock weighing several hundred pounds fell and struck him. He died within hours and leaves a wife and five children living in Valdez. His body was taken to Valdez and the steamer Mariposa is to sail for Seattle tonight.
The Democratic national committee released figures showing a campaign fund of 1.8 million dollars raised and about 1.7 million spent. Outstanding bills total roughly 228 thousand dollars. The Young People’s Club of Cordova will meet Monday evening at the Bungalow in the Hogg building, urging full attendance and new members. Last night a municipal magistrate fined June Peterson 26 dollars and costs for assault and battery.
