Washington Aug 11 The Navy secretary approves costly gear to aid coal land development in Alaska. Buildings at the Chickaloon field to house miners will be rushed to completion and a geologist along with twenty miners are authorized to augment the existing workforce.
The Department of Agriculture estimates sugar production from sugar beets at 2,007,000,000 pounds based on July 1 crop condition. It would set a record, compared with last year’s 1,459,900,000 pounds and the five year average of 1,577,200,000.
The American motorboat Miss America owned by G. A. Wood of Detroit won the first Harmsworth trophy race off Cowes Isle of Weight. Miss America also won the second final race for the Harmsworth trophy here today.
