The Osoli Club will close voting Monday at 4 p.m. for the May Queen and Tiny May Queen contests. Winners will be crowned at the May Day Festival on May 2 at Edwards Gym. Dolores McCaslin leads for Queen with Betty Sue Owens second. Lee Woolum leads for Tiny Queen with Stella Shelton second.

The Pentagon announced Task Force 71 continues operations south of Korea through the Tsushima Straits toward the Yellow Sea. Detroit Mayor Cavanagh Cleared in Civil Suit

A jury acquitted Detroit Mayor Jerome Cavanagh in a civil suit brought by Ruth O. Martin alleging he beat her and seeking 100000 dollars. Martin, the mayor’s former sister in law, testified against him while Cavanagh denied the charges saying she struck him with high heeled shoes. The judge praised the jury for its service and Cavanagh expressed relief that the matter is over.
