Mrs. Nettie F. Hoss reports from Bentonville on July 18 that George Fisher, the man who killed Sheriff Garrett at Southwest City on July 16, was cornered in a corn field and killed by a surrounding posse. Fisher bore a pistol but was quickly slain while handcuffed. speculation grows that his father may have killed Garrett, as the elder is under arrest.
After years away Sam meets Mr and Mrs James Smith now in Conway formerly Hammonsville Ark. The Holiness Literary School at Vilonia closes May 26 with eight hundred in attendance as Mrs Suddarth is reappointed to run the next term and tuition near Vilonia is free while public school runs.
Chicago on July 18 reports Postal and Western Union Telegraph Companies will discontinue their board of trade quotations after July 31. The move follows failed talks with the board of directors over terms deemed unjust and over restrictions for outside Chicago quotations. Telegraph firms claim the service is vital to the board of trade while directors see it as solving the bucket shop issue.
An endorsement praises Green's August Flower for indigestion and biliousness asserting its broad cure all. A neighbor’s infant recovered from cholera infantum after using Chamberlain's Colic Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy per directions, with Mrs Curtis Baker of Bookwalter Ohio endorsing it.
