Crowds cheer the repeal of a local entertainment tax as Little Rock plans a grand celebration for the Fourth. In Beaumont Texas another oil gusher has appeared making thirteen at the field. The Seventh National Bank New York shut its doors last Thursday amid poor business.
Little Rock plans a week long summer carnival from July 1 through July 6 drawing many visitors to the capital. A West Virginia cloudburst caused extensive flooding with over one hundred fatalities and property losses running into millions.
A Thursday blaze in Center Point destroyed mills stores and residences estimated at about 40000 dollars. Insurance coverage on the property was minimal.
The South shows growing interest in baseball with a Southern league now self supporting this season as crowds fill the stands and gate receipts rise.
