On last Sunday afternoon J. W. Smith and Miss Pearl Blankinship were married by C. H. Cheek at Preston, a quiet surprise to friends announced only Tuesday night. Miss Blankinship, an artist in millinery for J. W. Hicks & Co., will be missed. Mr. Smith has worked with C. H. Robinette in Conway.
G W Donaghey has purchased the Pythian Hall and will convert it into a first class hotel. An engineer from Little Rock studied required changes and plans include handsome porches water works and superior bathing facilities. The building is described as the finest in the city and the planned renovations aim to make it among the state's best hotels.
The Board of Trustees unanimously re elected Prof J G Lile as president for six more years at a January 22 1901 meeting. A committee will study contract terms with Lile and report January 29 at Little Rock. They also set bids for a heating plant funded by over 3000 in subscriptions.
