About midnight two men Walsh and Miller entered the Backley house waiting room and stole an overcoat. Clerk Charles Gall witnessed the act and others later found them trying store doors. They appeared before Squire Cates, pled not guilty, and were bound over to court in $300 each. Both jailed on failure to post bail.

New Equipment for Electric Plant Upgrades City Lamps
The General Gas Electric and Power Co plans to rehang all city lamps with Roebling wire cable replacing hemp rope. The system assures operation in all weather and allows lamps to be lowered for trimming. Five thousand feet of cable arrived the day of the sleet storm on Friday the 12th, but renewal delays hindered progress. New enclosed arc lamps cannot be installed until next year.
