German troops breakthrough near Verdun advance four miles on the sixth day of the battle. They stormed forts including Bouaumont and Ploieumont under heavy shelling, driving French defenders back as the German drive resumed after a snowstorm.
Constantinople Pel 2d reports Berlin professors arrived at the University of Stambou and the Turks declare the institution will be brought up to the level of the best in Europe.
Quidabonne the daughter of Mr and Mrs Robert Henry living north of Connersville underwent an operation for the renewal of tonsils and adenoids at a hospital in Indianapolis yesterday.
In Amsterdam on February 26 a high German naval officer said a total breach with the United States would help Germany win the war quickly. He warned that once the U S is no longer considered, Germany will wage war like Britain and block Ireland. He claimed every ship attempting to enter a British harbor would be warned and destroyed regardless of flag.

Mr Hampton Lewis Hampton of Livingston Kentucky died at 3 30 at his West Severth street home from double pneumonia He was 55 or 56 and had lived in Kentucky most of his life He moved to Connersville worked at a coal plant and leaves a wife and several children His remains go to Livingston for funeral and interment the next day
A large audience attended the Paton and Pythias dramatic presentation at Lyric Theatre in Connersville last evening. Rushville Knights of Pythias No 17 presented the drama to honor members and their families with no admission charge. Robert M. Brown of Indianapolis observed and spoke briefly. About three hundred Knights of Pythias were reported present from Connersville and neighboring areas. Miss Ellen MM Cupp had a minor operation at Dr Booker's office this morning. Tonsils and adenoids were removed and a growth on her foot was treated. None of the procedures are serious and a full recovery is expected soon.
County Clerk William Reeder announced William A. Regan has been named receiver of the Palace Platel Company. The Barrys recently left Connersville for the East, leaving William McNab in charge briefly. Regan, a former restaurant owner, takes over after a mortgage from Farmers and Merchants Trust Company supported the appointment.
