Walston Pa June 22 Italians and Hungarians run Walston mines. They hold English speakers hostage, flood pumps fail, two militia regiments expected from Ridgway, and town leaders plan guards. Mine superintendent John Snyder resigned and left for Ohio.
Brazil Ind June 22 Nine striking miners James Booth Robert Rankin Ernest Poor Charles Stack William Wilson William Warren William Cargering and William Gardering face first degree murder charges in the fatal Vandalia incident. Jury also indicts John Davis David Morris Robert Werten Bert Britton Thomas Quigley Edward Monk Edward Morris for complicity with intent to commit felony. bonds reduced to 100 each.
Springfield Illinois June 22 miners in the subdistrict endorsed the scale set by the miners conference pushing a 12 12 percent contribution from wages to aid unemployed. Several mines resumed. fears of foreign trouble and possible riots loom as towns brace for arrivals. Delegates from Lafayette Louisville Erie Blossburg Los Cerillos attend coal miners meeting in Pursio Colorado with 12 500 miners represented.
SubLivaN Indiana June 22 The Star City miners returned to work but withdrew again after a delegation of strikers from Alum Cave arrived. They plan to await instructions from state federation officers.
General Kelly and his aide Colonel Baker were arrested as vagabonds in Lovisuvineb and bonded $2300 each before release. He canceled a National park speech while threats of arrest loomed from city officials. Separate dispatches report miners evicted in Indian Territory and soldiers linked abuses.
In Frankfort Indiana on June 22 the Paris Dwiggins case heard state witnesses who testified that Paris Dwiggins and Co did not invest in the Russiaville bank. Receivers and the late cashier said local parties funded the capital. Paris controlled affairs from Indianapolis, borrowed on his security, and did not repay. When the Columbia National Bank failed, he telegrammed to close Russiaville. Greentown’s cashier Waldon said Paris never invested. he borrowed thousands, deposited his own notes, and misled Waldon about the bank's health. After the cierre, 80,000 deposits dwindled to 1,000 on hand. Witnesses described solicitations by ex-Gov. Chase and Paris to become depositors who later lost their money.
Report notes a dividend of 20 percent and crimes by Miller suspected to exceed $10,000 with Miller possibly in Mexico. In Fort Wayne James E. Grahin was nominated by Prohibitionists for Congress in the Twelfth Indiana district. Populists nominated A. M. Benson for Congress in the Eleventh Indiana district.
The Minneapolis will conduct an official trial around July 10 from Cape Ann to Cape Porpoise. Eight to nine ships will be stationed along the route to record speed and gather data on tides currents and coastal conditions for the trial board chaired by Commodore Selfridge. Ships named include Dolphin Vesuvius Atlanta Iwana Fortune Leyden Fern Montgomery and possibly New York.
In Washington the House adjourned with few notable actions as bills and resolutions stalled. The Senate opened with debate on tariff provisions and opposition to income tax, while baseball scores from Cincinnati to Brooklyn filled the rest of the page.

Pittsburgh June 22 Engineers and hookers on at the Homestead steel works formed a committee to request the restoration of the 20 percent wage cut admitted in January.
