Frank Weldele of Mast Connersville was injured Sunday when a rock thrown by a boy named Ward struck his eye while bystanders splashed water below on the river bridge. The injury could endanger his sight as his nose was also burned and the eye pain remains severe.
Reports detail five thousand bluecoats forming a junction with Garcia and Gomel forces. The torpedo boat destroyer Terror was sunk with all hands. A fierce storm off Japan wrecked 223 boats and claimed 1,627 lives.
A Kingston Jamaica dispatch reports five thousand United States troops landed near Punta Cabrera west of Santiago de Cuba. The force linked with Cen. Calix to Garcia's 3000 insurgents under cover of Admiral Sampson's fleet. Heavy siege pins accompanied the landing.
Lieutenant Carranza and Senor Du Rose are said to have faked lunch steps, with Carranza leading a Spanish spy system from Montreal. The British ambassador Pauncefote passed the case to foreign offices, and Canada is expected to expel the Spanish officials shortly.

Knightstown Ind June 6 Elihe and Samuel Lee brothers aged 25 and 90 were drowned in Buck Creek northeast of town. Elihe entered the water to bathe and could not swim. Samuel jumped in to help and both disappeared amid bystanders unable to assist. The brothers supported a widowed mother.
Winchester Indiana June 6 Captain Nelson Pegg has organized twelve companies for a regiment in response to the second call. A veteran of the Nineteenth Indiana he served as provost marshal at Berryville Virginia and later commanded Martinsburg. He seeks permission to lead the regiment.
Indignation among the committee in charge of the K of P encampment grows after reports claim the affair will be postponed due to the war. Circulation denies the report and says the encampment will be held next August as planned. Committee says prospects are bright and local businessmen are liberal in subscriptions.
Jawis Harlan, a two year terror in Sharpsville, was killed by Sheriff McCreary’s posse as he tried to flee. Two bullets hit him, one in the right lung, and he died Saturday. His father Fresman Harlan was killed years ago during a Missouri store robbery.
Special to the DALY News reports that Garcia and Gomez allied insurgents have surrounded Santiago. Five thousand American troops have landed west of the city as forces press the offensive.
A correction clarifies the Saturday assault on Henry Jordan as he returned from Hawkins Post Office through Potter Kerr's woods. Jordan was struck on the cheek and jacket, fired a stone at the assailant, and noted five gashes on his coat. An unknown man, white or colored, engaged him and fled. another colored man was questioned by noon about suspects.
