Arbor and Bird Day Observed at Fair View Graded School
Teachers and pupils celebrated Arbor and Bird Day on Friday Oct 26 with decorated rooms and a march to plant trees including eight maples one oak and two mulberries. Eleven trees were planted with teachers contributing one tree named for trustee D Springer. A program followed featuring songs recitations and instrumental music with students from Fayette and Rush Counties attending. The event was described as happy satisfactory and profitable, promoting beautification and character.

Col Frybarger Dead in Lafayette Soldier Home
Relatives in the city learned Thursday of Col W W Feybarger's death at the Soldiers Home in Lafayette. His remains were brought Friday, 12:15 train, to his sister Mrs Joshua Chitwood's home and a burial service followed at 2 p.m. in the city cemetery. Pallbearers were sons Ned and Martin Frybarger and half brothers George and Frank Frybarger. Dr Joshua Chitwood and Dr Frank Chitwood attended as relatives. Col Frybarger, a Civil War veteran, was known across Fayette County for kindness and brave service. Governor Morton once retained him on his staff in Indianapolis.

Tragic Train Accident Claims Mrs Walsh at Depot
A fatal accident at the C H and I depot Sunday evening killed Mrs Catherine Walsh as she alighted from an Indianapolis excursion train. Backing engine and rear car wheels mangled her, despite medical aid from five physicians. She died at home at 11 pm. She leaves a large family of four sons and four daughters and was remembered for cheerfulness and generosity. Funeral was held Wednesday from the Catholic church.
