The Horticultural Society met last Thursday in Knights of Pythias Hall Everton with about 125 attendees despite cold wind. Sidney Taylor Dies Near Harrisburg

Sidney Taylor of near Harrisburg died of paralysis on May 2 and was laid to rest May 4 in Lick Creek Cemetery. Funeral services were led by Rev. E W Harlan with the 1.0.C. F. fraternity handling arrangements. Born in New York, he moved west and lived in Fayette County about 70 years. He married Hariett Ludlow in 1851. she died last Christmas. Two sons survive, and relatives extend sympathy.

May Day Birthday Party For Corinne Bundy At McFarlan

About 74 children gathered Saturday evening in the McFarlan dining room to honor Corinne Bundy on her eleventh birthday. The party was informal and joyful with dancing by young guests and praise for the two little dancers Hilda Pepper and Sylvia Johnston.

Tobacco Spit On Central Avenue Sparks Sanitation Call

Readers note that tobacco juice on Central Avenue sidewalks coats both sides in sticky amber pools. Women are most affected as they dodge the filth near corners while porters fetch water and brooms. City officials urged better sanitation to protect health and reduce hay fever and coughs.

Epworth League Elects New Officers at First M E Church

The Epworth League Chapter of the First M E Church held installation services with a program of exercises. Prof F I Barrows presided and noted the league’s 1.9 million members, 25 000 chapters, and the local chapter with over 200 members. Rosa Bryant aged 15 years 8 months 15 days died after months of consumption. She joined the church at eleven and led a Christian life. Survived by three sisters and devoted parents. Burglary Attempt at McCann’s Roller Mills Cafe

Between Saturday evening and Monday morning burglars damaged the McCann’s Roller Mills cafe office while trying to force the safe. They did not enter the cafe, but stole 55 cents and some postage stamps from McCann. The awkward entry suggests inexperienced culprits.

Runaway Dash Nearly Hits Robinsou Family Near Central Ave

A horse pulling a carriage dashed down Central Avenue Sunday evening frighteningly fast. Mr. S. H. Robinsou and family narrowly escaped serious injury as the driver failed to control the horse near Fifth Street, ending with the bit striking the First National Bank building. The buggy suffered damage with a broken shaft but the occupants escaped unharmed.

Chicken Industry to Open in East Connersville

Prominent citizens D. T. Roote and Will Thomas plan a new chicken raising firm in the White Water Carpet Company building East Connersville. The operation will use modern methods and aim to become the largest, most progressive in the state, with fancy breeds and shippers for the eastern market.

Commencement Postponed for East Connersville Schools

The East Connersville and Connersville Township Schools commencement is moved to the Baptist Church in East Connersville on May 11, not May 10. In Cuba, Charles F. W. Neely a former Daily News editor from Muncie is accused of large postal fraud involving a $75 000 shortage and is under arrest awaiting trial.
