County Recorder Joseph Ridge visited every Connersville newspaper office to share cigars with editors reporters and printers on his 62nd birthday. The gesture drew praise from staff who toasted the official and his long service while noting the light hearted humor of the newsroom.
Liberty lawyer Albert Davis, a leading Union County figure, visited Connersville on Saturday and discussed a possible run as joint senator for Fayette Union and Henry counties. Miles K Moffett with several lady friends staged a birthday surprise for Mrs Moffett on Monday night at 7pm. Led by Miss Brodie Hawkins and Miss Mable Wainwright the group presented a beanciful picture and entertained with gates and other amusements. Dainty refreshments followed, and guests departed around midnight.
Rev. A. R. Beach of Liberty has been ill for weeks and unable to conduct services. With no brother minister available Mrs. Beach, his wife, has ably filled the pulpit in his stead keeping the church's duties steady.
Cary Jackson formerly with Roots Roller Mills and now at Falmouth is discussed as a Democratic candidate for Trustee of Washington Township Rush County.
Court opens Monday March 5 1900 with grand and petit jurors listed for March 6 and March 13. Names include Layton Dudgeon Connersville Township J W Faulkner Connersville Tp and two dozen others across Posey Morrison and Orange townships with several from Jackson and Fairview.
Over two months the Davis family near Anderson Indiana faced fire and death. Meredith Davis fell from a barn and died of pneumonia after injuries. Corwin Davis lost his barn and mill to fire with no insurance. Jesse Davis died in New Mexico from measles and pneumonia soon after. Meredith and Corwin were nephews of Harrison Davis.

Friday of last week Harrisburg schools marked Washington and Flag Day with a pole raising ceremony. Pupils performed essays on the flag and Washington, sang patriotic songs, and Eddie Wackleman provided violin accompaniment. John P. Nelson of Harrison Township supervised the pole raising and helped obtain the flag. An elegant flag now flies before the school, symbolizing liberty and national pride.

Mrs. Sylvia Higley wife of John Higley of Fairview Township died suddenly of heart disease on Sunday. Daughter of Mr and Mrs John Uf Manlove her five year old son John will be cared for by grandparents. Funeral held Tuesday at Fairview Christian Church with community sympathy offered.
The Fayette County Board of Commissioners invites sealed bids for supplies for the county poor asylum from March 1 to June 1, 1900. Requisitions for bids open March 5 noon to March 8 noon at the Auditor’s office. The board may reject any or all bids. Mrs W E Beckett stayed with relatives. Phenis Lake family moved to Jennings Township. Mrs J C Rowe celebrated her birthday with a turkey dinner and quilting. Charles Rigor returned from Hamilton. Township politics feature Messrs Trusler and Lewis seeking Township Trustee and Assessor. Oil a Morocco curios exhibition planned for Everton church. Lafe Moore and Jim Kerr plan Rocky Ford trip for beet season.
Mrs Richardson of Veedersburg visits her husband the Rev Richardson conducting a revival here. George Brown and wife hosted a turkey dinner in his honor with their son George Brown of Cambridge City present. Miss Bessie Salyer is ill and Jesse Clawson will relocate near Yankeetown. Mike Hylands moved to Wayne County earlier this week. no meeting Monday due to revival starting in Fayetteville.
In Andersonville last Friday night a new Pocahontas council degree was instituted with charter members. Brookville participants performed credibly and the event drew attendance from Guess Hunt and John McKee of nearby areas.
Fred George, a city employee, was knocked to the ground Monday near the canal over the Seventh Street bridge. He struck his spine on the edge of the bridge, losing consciousness for a period before regaining awareness.
