Weather observer F P Kennedy says this fall’s precipitation benefits grain more than any fall in years. Since September 1, Gilliam County received 2.49 inches, with 1912 at 2.20, 1919 at 3.47, and 1911 exceeding this year in total but not timing. October 1911 had 0.61 inch. this October saw 2.28 inches. Temperature also favorable.
Jos Evans moves to Walterville Oregon asks Globe sent there. Condon National Bank adopts new Royal typewriter praising it as superior. T G Kaesemeyer opens a market in Fossil after leaving a Condon meat business. Ladies Aid Society buys coal stove for Congregational church. Sydney Hanson Ed Klink Jas Cooke and J T Fagan join Heppner Elks. Ed Stinchfield of Mayville travels to Portland. Sherman Wade visits from Clem on Monday. Geo Gibbons of Shelburn visits Condon to see friends and relatives.
Earl Passmore thanks the people of Condon for assistance during his wife’s illness and death and for their kind subscriptions of help. He notes he is working at Dunlap’s shop.

A. B. Stanley of Lone Rock faced Justice J. B. Goff for possessing untagged venison. He pleaded guilty saying he bought it from Indian Billy George. A watch is kept for the Indian, though Stanley may not have intended to violate the law.
John Jackson closed a deal last week to acquire the Reisacher brick building formerly owned by J F Reisacher on Main Street, making him the new owner.
Farmers across the county report strong wheat emergence with heights of six inches in some fields and five to six inches in northern Gil liam. Many have finished seeding and note wheat is well above ground, indicating a favorable crop outlook for next year.
The old well on vacant lots near the Congregational church should be filled due to rotted covering making it dangerous for children using the area as a playground. It is one of the town’s oldest wells, dug twenty one years ago by T. G. Johnson.
Landscape man F. W. Burns received a shipment of 1000 trees shrubs and vines last week for planting in the area. He has many orders to fill in this section of the state.
The article lauds a reform in education where examinations are abolished for most pupils. It notes two thirds averaging over 90 percent and commends Miss Searcy for guiding the 8th Grade toward the State Exam.
L L Montague from Arlington purchased a Ford auto from Dr Taylor and drove it back to Arlington for his livery business. A fire broke out in a mail car at the depot earlier, door locked, but the blaze was soon extinguished after the lock was smashed. The Heppner Elks plan their annual banquet and dance on Friday November 21 at Summit Hotel dining room and the rink with Wheat City orchestra.
County court auditors approved and ordered payment of bills totaling 2073.48 at last week’s regular session. The meeting also handled substantial additional business.
Gilliam County reports a surge in marriages with 32 licenses issued since January. In the same period 1912 had 30 licenses and 1911 only 23 for the entire year.
T A Weinke was sworn in as the Gilliam County prosecuting attorney replacing the governor's appointee. He began duties last Saturday morning and is expected to be a capable officer. C M Huddleston had previously been the Sherman County appointee.
Congregational Church schedules Sunday School at 10 a m Vine service at 11 a m and 7 30 p m Pastor R M Jones preaches both morning and evening Special music planned in the evening Junior Endeavor at 3 p m All are welcome.
Eugene Walter's The Wolf, a Hudson Bay country melodrama, is announced for presentation at the American Theatre on Tuesday November 18 with full stage trappings and elaborate scenery. Chas Nash of Winlock was in Condon Tuesday. Mrs Edward Dunn will remain in Portland for the winter with the children in school there. Fred Wilson visited Arlington Sunday on business.
The city council in special session elected C. N. Laughrige to fill the vacancy created by George Parman’s resignation. All members attended except Cooke and Parman. The treasurer must reimburse any uncredited receipts. Heinecke Bros. work estimate $8711.25 approved. Rock placement on side streets referred to street committee.
J S Smith of Mikkalo was here Wednesday. Leonard Cimmigotti was up from Clem on Wednesday. Lester Wade went to Portland Wednesday. L B Townsend renewed his subscription to the Globe this week. Delbert Ward went to Olex Wednesday to decorate the interior of the church there. Thouvenel Sr returned Monday from Washington on business. S B Couture is moving from the ranch into his house in Condon. Grandmother Hardie left Wednesday for Portland after visiting at Trail Fork during the summer. Mrs Duthie accompanied her. A letter from Leo Shelley in Phoenix asks that the Globe be sent there to keep in touch with home news.
Deeds show May Piper transferring four fifths of an interest in 160 acres to F D Alexander and others. G Clark and Sons transfer 160 acres to Chas H Morris and others. Amanda Hoss transfers Arlington lots to Albert Shelton.
