Arlington voters approved a $5000 bond to install electric lights and a plant by a 30 vote margin. In the April 21 city election, 85 voted for bonding and 55 against. The plant will be installed in the near future.
The Athletic Club's Tuesday night presentation The Ranchman drew strong local praise. Performers and costumes were well suited and handled roles adeptly. Seats sold well with total receipts of 96 dollars.
E J Everett teaches the spring term at Gwendolen while Hay Creek closes for the year with Miss Percie Gow as teacher. Four weeks remain at Condon and the next eighth grade exams are set for May 8 and 9.
Frank Golden shipped a car of fine porkers Monday to Portland. They averaged 225 pounds and were well fed. Arlington Lumber Co. sent a 90 hog car to Portland, averaging about 200 pounds. A D R Parker car had a dislocated steering knuckle Sunday while en route to Fossil. no injuries.
Mayville reports a Rebecca ladies hosted a surprise supper for the Odd Fellows on Saturday evening. Misses Maggie Stockdale and Letha Thomas attended with others. The Harry Berdie Lewis Show visited Mayville, Mary Shaw visited J D Shaw, and local residents attended a ball game in Fossil, returning late Sunday.
The list shows top students by grade at Condon School last month. 8th grade Pearl Shannon and Gladys McMorris led, 7th Esther Noble, 6th Mabel May and Lola Keizur, 5th Elton Clarke, 4th Nora Harrison, 3rd Pearl Orwick and Flossie Brooks, 1st Letha Baker.
The Condon Globe promotes a county popularity contest for girls with cash prizes of 100 dollars for first and 40 dollars for second. The three week event ends May 15, urging immediate start and widespread subscriptions to earn votes.
Arlington April 24 Special reports two results from Sunday baseball. The Arlington first team lost 14 to 4 to Ione on the Ione diamond. The Arlington Cubs were defeated by Rock Creek second team 17 to 3 at Rock Creek.
Congregational Church will hold morning and evening services next Sunday with Sunday School at 10 am and preaching at 11 am and 7:30 pm. Pastor R. M. Jones to occupy the pulpit. Junior Endeavor at 3:00. Revival meetings start 25th and run to May 6 at Nazarene Church with 8 pm weekdays and 11 and 8 on Sundays. Lonerock plans a fall school fair offering prizes valued at 75 or 100 dollars. The event aims to raise community involvement and showcase student efforts with cash awards for top entries.

Elmer E. Hamrick and Miss Bessie Austin wed at the bride’s parents home with family present. Rev A H Smith officiated, reception featured chrysanthemums and sweet peas, couple to Portland and western Oregon cities for a brief honeymoon before returning to Condon. Oliver Eads and Ulyses Crane were also noted as residents tying the knot in Condon.
J A Riles of Olex transacted business in Arlington early week. Rockcreek boys plan a game with Arlington’s first team next Sunday on the Arlington diamond. E Rexford and wife of Texas visit sister Mrs John Berthold during their honeymoon. J A Smith, a sheepman from Sixprong, here Monday after six weeks since injury. P J Mahoney of Heppner here Wednesday. Mrs Zepha Hamblen returned Tuesday from Goldendale where illness of a sister prompted travel. Archie Fletcher visited from The Dalles early week. In Fossil last Sunday Condon beat Fossil with a reported 11 to 14 score. Many spectators from Condon attended. The scorekeeper may have missed players crossing the plate. Fossil will host Condon next Sunday and schedule includes Goldendale games on May 8 and 9, The Dalles visits May 30 to June 1 for three games. A fundraiser for Goldendale team expenses is planned for next Saturday night.
