Business Men to Petition for Sunday Train

A meeting of the Condon Business Men's Association was held Wednesday in Judge Parker's office. The main topic was the feasibility of inducing the O W R N Co to operate a Sunday train on the local branch. Petitions will be circulated in Mayville and Fossil.

Popular Condon Couples Married in Church Ceremony

Edward Slick and Grace Mary Burns were married at St. Catherine's church with Rev. Father Brady officiating. Attendants were Miss Bessie Burns and Mayor James D. Burns. About sixty guests attended a breakfast at the bride’s home before the couple departed for California en route to West Couture Place, Condon. Slick, a longtime baker, will reside in Condon with his bride after a short visit with relatives.

Elks Banquet and Dance Draw Strong Local Attendance

The Elks banquet and dance held last Friday night in Condon drew praise as a highly successful event with excellent music and tasteful decorations. Attendance from Heppner was limited, but local participation was robust and the dance considered among the best ever staged.

Noted Dr. Drake to Lecture in Cord This Weekend

Emma F A Drake M D a Pacific Coast Rescue and Protective Society lecturer will visit Cord on Sunday April 6 and Monday April 7. She will speak at 11 AM in the Baptist church and 7 30 PM in the Congregational church with additional women's meetings at 3 PM Sunday and 3 30 PM Monday at the High School. A base meeting is planned for 7 30 PM Monday at the Athletic Club building.

Young boy arrested for revolver theft in county court case

Ollie Rinehart was arrested Wednesday evening by Marshal Jarvis on the charge of stealing a revolver from George Parrivh. The boy, aged thirteen, was caught trying to sell the weapon from the engine room under the Condon bank to John Tonkins. The case was moved to the county court for trial.

Condon Fans Organize and Raise Funds

At a baseball meeting on Wednesday O B Robertson was selected manager and Dr Guy Pennepacker secretary treasurer of the Condon Baseball association. Five hundred dollars have been raised, new ball outfits ordered, and a salaried battery will be secured. The aim is to place Condon in the limelight with a winning team this year.

J P Greiner Buried Monday

The funeral of J P Greiner was held at the Catholic church and he was buried in the Catholic cemetery. Born near Detroit in 1863 he came to Gilliam county in 1887 and homesteaded. He leaves a brother Andrew of Mayville and three sisters Mrs Brandon of Wallowa Mrs Reiling of Park Place and Kate Greiner of Portland. He was a strong community figure whose loss will be deeply felt.

District Organizer Ed Palmer of Condon organized a Grange at Winlock last week with 25 charter members in a growing farming settlement. Lester Rinehart joined Fossil Mercantile Co. in Fossil after playing for the Fossil team this summer.
