Grange Dance at Bedford Draws Big Turnout
A social dance at the Bedford Grange hall last Friday drew a large crowd with a three piece orchestra providing music from 8 to 12 p m. The town hall event was organized under the Grange and reported as a great success.

John Frye McCallar Died in Concord at 78
John Frye McCallar died at his Concord home on Thursday September 22 at age 78. He was born in 1843 in West Falmouth Maine and worked with Miles Burr & Co in Boston and later with J Nardi Co in Philadelphia. He was a Mason and survived by his widow Mabel A Dennis McCallar, three sons, a daughter, a brother, a sister, and eight grandchildren.

Funeral of Thomas Hayes Held Last Saturday
The funeral for Thomas J. Hayes of this town was held last Wednesday at his Walden Street home with a high mass at St. Bernard's church. The burial followed at St. Bernard's cemetery. Hayes died Sunday after years of illness. he was born in Ireland about 55 years ago. The service included church choir music directed by the organist Mrs. Donahue. Attending were family members including John and Patrick Smith, John J. Hayes, David Hayes Jr., Daniel Hennessy, and John Hayes of Medford.

Hodges wins second money at Groton and Springfield fairs
Henry Hodges returns to duties at Assabet mills after a week off. He and his mother attended the Springfield fair on Monday. At Groton last Saturday he drove Martin Peterson's Lena Zombro to second in the 2.27 trot for a $300 purse, as Peterson's stable also included Trotwood and Lurine Bingen.
