The message states all matter must reach the office by Tuesday night to be inserted in the same week issue. Early receipts prevent delays. News, advertisements or submissions may be left with F. Be. Sanderson in Riverside block and subscriptions at Br. J. Coughlin's news room.
Maynard residents with sickness visits and guests include Frank Hall listed as sick, Mrs Hazel and visitors from Concord, Dorchester and Worcester. The sixth senatorial convention met at Ayer, and local tradespeople plan electrical, carpentry, and wool shop work as community notices blend with social items.
At a joint meeting of Maynard Stow and Boxboro school committees the union under the 1898 Acts was approved. John C. Mackin of Hudson was chosen to fill the superintendent post with apportioned time: Maynard 2 1 2 days Stow 1 1 2 days and Boxboro 1 day weekly. The nine member district committee will have three members from each town. Mackin, formerly principal of the minor school in Hudson, is praised as a capable choice.
Concord notes report Gardiner Hart entered at Brown in a piece titled No More Star Chambers. The column records visitors and local happenings including Miss Mabel Connors in Pittsfield, a porcupine owned by James Adams, Blue and White violets from a reform school farm, and various residents visiting Boston Lowell Brockton and Vermont. It mentions reforms, club events, and notices about schedules and deadlines for submission.
Miss Bessie Lowe invites pupils for piano study. Lessons may be at the pupil’s home or at 188 Commonwealth Avenue, Concord Junction. Terms are 50 cents.
Mrs A P Joyce offers a reward for positive evidence identifying the person or persons who have been breaking windows in her small shop and basement.
Concord items report Herbert W. Blanchard returning from Pigeon Cove, a new manual training teacher for Waltham schools, and Miss Edith H. Buckingham joining the high school teaching staff. The enrollment reaches 276 with several letters advertised and social events noted. Sidney J. Barrett beneficiaries listed and the Miss Pauline Eveleth Lee Todd Lincoln ceremony described.
