Voters hear calls for participation in multiple races as candidates visit Concord and nearby towns. Community gatherings include Rotary week activities and a municipal swim drive. Candidates from Somerville and Walden Maynard are among those campaigning, with inspections planned for renovated quarters and fairs scheduled across the area.
School officials led by Superintendent William L O Connell and school committee members Edwin Richter Parker Harrison Jr and Warren W Wheeler met with selectmen to request an October town meeting to discuss a new school. The board advertised bids for 1500 tons of Class I bituminous concrete on Main Street and granted a common victualler license to Secondo P Sablone. They consulted Atty Richard S McCabe on transferring land from Porter Jenks and appointed Edward Flannery to the recreation commission. Cardinal Cushing assures Concord selectmen the new St Francis Xavier High School is not opposed to public schools. More than 300 attend as Jesuits pledge support and local officials praise cooperation. Present are town leaders, priests, and parishioners with thanks to Bishop York.

Mr and Mrs Russell F Parsons Sr of 60 Thoreau Street celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary on September 4. Their son Russell Parsons Jr and family visited, and granddaughter Caroline Parsons observed her 15th birthday on September 11. The Parsons reside in North Quincy.
The site near Colorado Springs Colorado has 75 miles of paved roads and 25 miles of improved but unpaved roads. The area’s road system reflects extensive development at the Air Force Academy.
