Miss Cora Warren enjoyed several days in Province town while C E societies showed strong presence at the Maynard convention. Many named residents and visitors from Jamaica Plain New York and Concord appear in brief items on schooling travel and local events.
The Historical society revised plans for a Labor Day trip to a southeastern town site linked to an old Indian settlement. A library meeting drew fourteen attendees as Arthur Porter of Boston spoke on Indian traits based on Wyoming survey work. Porter showed photos of Indians and dances, while artifacts from local history were exhibited by Miss Mary Fletcher.
A Memorial church concert in South Sudbury Thursday drew over 28 for tickets, with refreshment sales awaiting final tallies. Star soprano Mrs. Julia G. Jones of Waverly impressed audiences with a high quality voice and clear enunciation, delivering Goodbye Sweet Day and an encore The Nightingale Hath a Lyre of Gold that, along with Mr. Hosmer and Miss Rinehart, highlighted a strong program.
A popular local belle asks for the return of a hair lock from a prior gift. The reply appears brief and confused mentioning a dark ten percent in the item given earlier, reflecting a humorous misunderstanding in a small community dispute.
Maynard and nearby towns saw numerous Labor Day gatherings and visits. Local residents and guests including Walter O Keefe, Roy Prescott, Albert Randall and family, and several women enjoyed Revere beach trips, while others attended events in Concord Junction and Boston. The American Woolen Co. hired Dr. L Ware as engineer and new residents settled in town.
A roundup of social happenings in Concord Junction includes guests visiting from Weymouth, Nova Scotia, and New York, plus several family relocations and summer returns. The community saw a large turnout at a Friday social in Association hall, a moving picture event, and a Sept 11 meeting to form a Democratic club. Marriage notices include Daniel Lapham and Eva Burnham at the Trinitarian church and Emma Sprowson and Herbert Sprowson at home, with both couples planning to reside in town after their weddings.
Archie McEacheran, younger son of Ronald and Mrs McEacheran, Cottage Street, passed away after a brief illness at General Hospital. He had been unwell for months and grew worse after admission. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Help of Christians Church with Rev. M J Welch officiating. Archie, a West Concord School and Waltham Business College graduate, was well known and liked in town. His parents receive heartfelt sympathy from the community.

Mr and Mrs Matthew Steinman express heartfelt gratitude for the sympathy and many acts of kindness shown during their recent sorrow.
