Young immigrant dies after train jump during arrest
John Milnes aged 19 from the Assabet mills area died after leaping from a train while Deputy Chief John Connors returned him to Maynard authorities. Milnes, recently arrived from his homeland, had been arrested in Boston for alleged theft of 25 dollars. He jumped from the window as handcuffs were removed and died at the scene. the body was brought to town for burial.
