The Concord Woman's Club will hold a Friday afternoon session led by president Wilson. Noted lawyer Norma Aiden is expected to join as a guest and deliver remarks before the group continues with the planned program.
A Triduum at St Bernard's Church runs Wednesday through Friday with 7:45 pm benediction and Holy Day masses on Friday at 6 7 30 and 9. All Souls Day is observed Saturday. William J Hill of 20 Fairhaven Road recently injured his foot at work and uses crutches.
Mr and Mrs Walter of Acton Center announce the birth of their child on October 28 at Em vital Concord. Grand fall of the Center.
Mr and Mrs Clifford H Bryant formerly of 8A Everett Street now of East Hartford Connecticut spent the end visiting with local friends while on a trip.
Concord churches plan All Saints and All Souls observances this Friday and Saturday. St Bernard’s offers Masses at 6 7 30 and 9 Friday and 8 Saturday with confessions Thursday. Our Lady Help of Christians in West Concord schedules Masses Friday 5 30 7 and 8 and Saturday 6 6 30 and high mass at 7.
Maynard Rotary Club hosts District Governor Capton Alton of Uxbridge for District Governors night. He shares Rotary service experiences from 20 years in the club and installs four new members Dr Fran Lituri Jacob Janericeo Peter Stalker and Frank Colombo. Donations for the Concord Visiting Nurses Association are requested via Miss Mary Chamberlin at 7 Lowell Rd.
Maynard Benny Sofka, assistant manager of the Peoples Theatre, meets his fiancée Rini Dolmans of Meergsen Holland as she arrives by Overseas Airlines at LaGuardia. Sofka, a Staff Sergeant in the Army Air Force and top war draft volunteer, arranged for their marriage in the near future.
The district releases a table of voting hours for surrounding towns and cities ahead of the election next Tuesday November 5 The piece notes the Young People's Section at the Evangelical Free Church met last Friday night as usual.
The Concord Enterprise will provide a period by period score of the Concord Johnson football game. The game is set for Saturday at 2 p.m. in Lawrence. A large blackboard will display each period’s scores near the Enterprise office at 6 Main Street.
Alice M. Barker 87 a former Deaconess Home resident died last Saturday at New England Deaconess Hospital Brookline Mass Day committal services were held in Fort Plain New York with Rev Dr William R Leslie of St Marks Brookline officiating She was born Cramecie Township Ontario and lived six years at the local Deaconess Home She previously served as a Deaconess at a Methodist Church and as chaplain at the hospital She leaves a brother John and a niece Lucille both of Fort Plain.
The Acton Women’s Club invites all residents to a Friday open meeting at the clubhouse at 4:00 p.m. to discuss upcoming referendum questions on the ballot. Reports will cover candidates from both parties and aim to help women vote with understanding. An extra school bus runs from the high school at 4:15 p.m. to South East Center and North Acton for students staying for makeup work and activities.
In honor of World War 2 veterans the Union Congregational Church hosts a Welcome Home Service on Sunday November 10 at 7 30 p m inviting veterans their families and friends. The sponsoring committee includes Rev Norman Mac Lean and church friends.
Concord High, the Concord S. S. Concord football team, leads the EMSWA Class D race with six straight wins and 34 points. Northbridge Shrewsbury and Wayland follow undefeated, as Concord prepares to face Lexington Johnson Chelmsford and Billerica later this year. In Class C Winchester tops with six straight, Class B led by Brookline and Lynn Classical, Brockton, Melrose remain undefeated in Class A.
At the Elks lodge meeting Exalted Ruler David B Williams oversaw a film showing. The Concord Parent Teachers Association plans to reorganize with details in next week’s Concord Enterprise. Dr Howard Stone Anderson of Washington DC was guest preacher at Trinitarian Congregational Church last Sunday. Mr and Mrs Charles David MacPherson former Patience Hosmer returned from their wedding trip and will reside in Concord. The Town Committee met to plan for the State Election and a torch light parade on Monday night in Concord.
Police chief Michael Foley filed the complaint against Edward P. Callahan in Concord district court last Tuesday alleging assault with intent to commit a criminal act. Callahan is held on $1000 bail until November 1.
Concord voters line up for a near record turnout in the State Election with polls open 6 am to 6 pm. Precinct 1 votes at the Veterans Building and Precinct 2 at the Harvey Wheeler School West Concord. Contests include Harold Tompkins seeking a third term unopposed and Otis Whitt facing Francis Callahan for Governor and related races for lieutenant governor state senate and public notices amid referendums.
