Gov. Foss and David I. Walsh spoke from town hall steps at 2 10 this afternoon drawing a large gathering of citizens and officials. A Bedford fire department reception for Mr Kavanaugh followed with testimonials, toast remarks, and a community gathering with refreshments.
The event ran for years under M F Manning, with the town committee secretary supervising. In the town center red flame and enthusiasm marked the night as Humphrey O Sullivan of Lowell spoke for Congress, ex City Solicitor Hogan for governor's council, Fisher of Westford for senator, and Byron of Concord for the legislature. A large audience attended and received the speakers well though O Sullivan was the standout.
Local notes report measles cases to the board of health. Multiple residents travel or entertain guests including Mrs. Louis Cook in Keene and Mrs. Robert Carter Swampscott. Schools close Friday for Cambridge convention. Sports mention candlepin bowling and a 30 game tie between Ray and Rainville. Playground work advances with new card sets and 116 total. Bancroft street project nearing completion. Park efforts praised as Maynard enjoys improving playgrounds.

Adams family travels to Elkton Maryland and home soon. Waldo Lapham promotes Assabet Heights park and two Harrington avenue lots to Loomer and Saltmarsh with spring building plans.
