Concord Knights of Columbus No. 287 announce their annual communion breakfast on Columbus Day October 12. They will meet at Monument Hall at 8 am, walk to 8:15 am mass at St Bernard's Church celebrated by Rev Michael Burke, with breakfast at 9:30 am at the hall and guest speaker Rev Leo Riley S J of Boston College.
Patrolman Fred Nolan of Concord police was at the Musketaquid Sportsmen's Club when a bolt of lightning struck, stunning him. He reported feeling a shock on his back and was home sick the next day.
West Concord Five Concord high school students will join a panel discussion on the Exchange Trip at the West Concord P T A meeting tonight in the Harvey Wheeler school auditorium. Town clerk reports a record 4 984 voters after registrations closed Friday night at 10 o'clock. The board of registrars added 164 names across precincts 184 2 and 3, and since September 18 has accepted 331 new names, signaling a likely record vote on November 4.

West Concord Lawrence Meade Shaw, age 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. John H Shaw of 11 Grove Street, died suddenly at Emerson Hospital after illness begun Saturday. A 1949 Concord High School graduate, born in Waltham, he had moved to West Concord earlier.
