Acton Gun Memorial Debate At Town Meeting

Acton residents debated placing a 4.7 inch field gun memorial on the Common or Acton Center. An article to appropriate 200 funded the gun, passed by large margin at a Town Warrant meeting. A hearing drew 18 Acton Center residents as speakers, with support citing peace through preparedness and opposition arguing the site harms beauty and real estate values.

Funeral services for the late Mrs. Abbie Frances Pul fer Lawrence were held from the home of her daughter Mrs. Clara Clark in North Acton. A charter member of the West Acton Womens Relief Corps she lived with her daughters since Mr. Lawrence’s death. Burial was in Sleepy Hollow cemetery Concord.
