Concord residents flocked to the annual fair last week with many driving in for the events. An 8 PM auction at Abram’s yielded good prices, while gun license sales rise as the Hunters season opens. Maynard’s team suffered a setback at Marlboro, and a full Maynard–Gilroy report appears this week.
Concord high school defeated Dedham Saturday afternoon in a well played game showing highly developed football. Concord’s defense held off Dedham who fought hard to cross the goal line. Scoring included Walcott with two touchdowns as the lineups and officials are listed with Bevan the umpire Johnson referee McCarthy linesman. Time noted as 10 minute periods.

John Collins and son Edward secured positions in Blackstone. Mrs. Joseph Wilson of Providence was a guest of Mia Mies. Margaret McEachern of Worcester visited Miss Annie Ryan. Maynard Marlboro game drew many rooters Saturday. Frank Hawkes transferred as station agent from Lincoln to Stony Brook. T. Blood enjoys a two week vacation from duties at the Reformatory. Harold W. Chase vacationed from duties at the B M office in Boston. Mrs. John Tracey and Mrs. Tracy Pope left for Nova Scotia for several months. Miss Marion Douglas underwent appendectomy at Deaconess hospital. Mrs. John Mogan left for home in Vancouver after visiting Gordon Wilson. Miss Grage Jones returned to Long Island after a week with the Willis family. Concord council K of C will hold a dance in Monument Hall with Waverly providing music. Next Sunday is communion Sunday for Holy Name Society of Help of Christian church. mass at 7 am and service at 7 pm. There will be an event at 3 pm. Fall River party at Elmer Hattuck home attended by about a score of Miss Batt’s friends including Clara Leighton Helen Lorentsen Margaret Adams Mary Damon Ruth Shepard Mize Louise Winslow Damon Irvin John Garvey Roger Allen Wallis Ford and Winthrop Judkins
