Fire at Allen Chair Corporation Causes 7000 Loss
A Sunday night blaze at the Allen Chair Corporation on Bradford Street confined to a dry lumber shed and three loads of green lumber, causing about 7000 in damage. Edwin Peterson spotted the fire around 7 pm, with flames traced to an overheated motor in the dry room. 1500 per load for three damaged consignments. Firefighters, led by Capt. Tombeno and Deputy Chief Beharrell, battled the fire for about two and a half hours. 15000 feet of lumber nearby remained unharmed. Insurance will cover the loss.
